'Doubles' maths game!

Check out this fun maths game we use for a warm-up activity in Ruma Tekau Ma Tahi...!

Thanks Koka Joelle for giving us the idea - we love it!!!

Swimming @ Ilminister

Ruma Tekau Ma Tahi put all their swimming practice to good use today; racing in the Year Groups at Ilminister School!

Everyone tried their best and had such positive, supportive attitudes! You should be so proud of yourselves, Ruma 11 :-)

I wonder what we'll be writing about in class tomorrow...

Use your WITS

Ruma Tekau Ma Tahi are using their WITS  to 'do the right thing'...

VERRRBBSSS!

For our writing we are exploring using more interesting verbs. Today we worked together in our writing groups to play 'Verb Pictionary':

- First, 2 of our peers had to act out verbs that they were given by Koka on sticky-notes

- Then we brainstormed all the verbs we called out during the game!

- Finally, we categorised each new verb under one of 4 common verbs used; went, said, looked, ate

I wonder what interesting verbs you could think of...?

What does 2 groups of 3 look like?

In Ruma Tekau Ma Tahi we are exploring  numbers and how they work!

Koka Sara G asked is to show her what 2 x 3 looked like and we knew the answer was '6', but it was interesting thinking about what it LOOKS like...

What do you think...!

Waiata and tuakana teina time!

We are so lucky in Room 11 to have such a talented and kind class next door to us! Room 10 sometimes join us for waiata and we love their company - Koka Karla sings so beautifully and plays the guitar, and we are able to be role models for our teina in Room 10...

Ka pai, Room 11 tuakana!!

Part of our self-portrait work is to think about Colours and how they make us feel.

Today we chose our 4 favourite colours... We're not sure what we're going to so with them yet, but we think Koka has something in mind...!

Where are we?

I'm Room 11 we are learning about our East Coast and identifying where we are from and what we know about our coast.

Where's our maunga?
Where's our awa?
Where's marae?

I wonder how much Room 11 know so far...

We have football with Blake and Lizzy every Tuesday afternoon for this term - how luck are we!

Check out the tamariki in Room 11 working together and positively participating in the lesson time...

Thinking & Predicting

Check out room 11 using their thinking skills to PREDICT what they think a text might be about... They're using key words from a story to create their own story - what creative thinkers!!
